Overnight Work to Begin on Cedar Street Bridge Tonight

Wellesley Police say the work will last likely for the next two weeks.

Work will begin tonight on the , according to a Alert issued this morning.

The work will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day for all of this week and possibly the next and will focus on the off ramps and approaches to the bridge itself, according to the alert.

“Citizens traveling on both Route 9 and Cedar Street during the evening and early morning hours should expect traffic delays approaching the area,” the alert said. “While traffic volume is usually light during these hours, there may be some backup on the east and westbound sides of Route 9.  Please plan accordingly and expect some delays.”

There will be several Wellesley Police officers on the scene during construction to direct traffic, the alert continued.

The Cedar Street Bridge project, which involves the replacement of the entire Route 9 overpass on Cedar Street, will be completed over the July 4 holiday weekend.
