Russian Folk Music with Zolotoj Plyos

Come enjoy Russian folk music with musicians Alexander Solovov, Elena Sadina, and Sergei Grachev on March 29, 2016 at 7:30pm.

Russian Area Studies invites guests to enjoy Russian folk music with musicians Alexander Solovov, Elena Sadina, and Sergei Grachev. All three members of the group graduated from the Saratov State Conservatory and are professional musicians.

The group’s repertoire includes folk songs and instrumental pieces from various parts of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, and other areas, and also features Gypsy music, Russian popular music, and Jewish music. The members of the ensemble play more than thirty Russian folk instruments, including the bayan, chromatic and diatonic accordions, the balalaika, domra, guitar, zhaleika, clarinet, saxophone, various percussion instruments, and Russian bells.

The ensemble has shared their talent in countries across the nation, including Russia, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United States. They have also appeared on several radio and television shows throughout Europe. In the first years of the 21st century, the group made five tours of the USA, performing at many reputable concert halls such as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
