School's Out In Wellesley

Kids, parents enjoy a somewhat sunny afternoon.

Today was the last day of school for all Wellesley Schools students save for the seniors, who had their own last day May 28.

At Sprague, where 74 fifth-graders ended their time as elementary students and will head to Wellesley Middle School in the fall, the school held its annual "Clap Out" celebration, a parade of the future sixth-graders through the school, accompanied by teacher and parent applause.

On Linden Street, students from throughout Wellesley lined the sidewalks and patronized shops and restaurants with their first hours of official summer, as most students tell time.

At Morse's Pond beach, the schools hosted an end-of-year cookout, which also coincided with the beach's second official open day of the season.

The weather held for all the events and plans, despite an early blanket of light rain and an occasionally overcast sky.
