Stolen Check, DUI: Wellesley Police Log

The following are excerpts from the Wellesley Police log. Arrests do not indicate convictions:

Arrests

March 6

10:48 p.m. - A Land Rover SUV was in the middle of the street after crashing into the medium and driving over a traffic signal on Linden Street near the Cottage Restaurant. Police arrested Christina Ablon, 49, of Wellesley, who police said was driving the car and failed a field sobriety test. Ablon was charged with OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lane violations. She was later released on personal recognizance.

March 7

10:35 a.m. - Police pulled over a Dodge van on Worcester Street because it still had snow and ice on its roof from the last storm on March 4. When officers asked for the driver's license, he said he didn't have one according to police. Albert Rodriguez-Ramiriez, 28, of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and impeded operation. He was taken to Dedham District Court.

March 9

3:20 a.m. - Police pulled over a woman they said was speeding, making unsafe lane changes, and having difficultly staying in its lane. Officers pulled over the white Mercades on Worcester Street at Westminster Circle and smelled burnt marijuana after approaching the driver. Tamika Gayle, 36, of Marlborough, also admitted to drinking a beer, according to police. Police said Gayle failed a field sobriety test and was charged with OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lane violations, speeding, and impeded operation.

Incidents

March 4

7:58 a.m. - Police were called after a report of a crash on Washington Street in the Lower Falls area. The driver of a black Acura sedan told police that when he left a driveway, his car was struck by a truck. The driver said he tried to stop but couldn't because of the snow covered roads. According to police, the truck driver gave the man a business card and then left. Authorities called the company on the business card, requesting the driver return. A short time later the driver returned and told police he has been living in Massachusetts for 14 years and has a license in El Salvador but not in Massachusetts. The truck driver was summoned to Dedham District Court on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. The company was also issued a citation fr allowing an unlicensed driver to work.

March 5

1:17 p.m. - A woman called police and reported her disability placard stolen from her car.

March 7

4:07 p.m. - A man called police after a check he sent to a business for repairs was never received by the contractors. When he checked with his bank he learned that the check was intercepted, the payment amount was changed from $1,895.18 to $3,100 and cashed by an unknown suspect. The incident is under investigation.
