WELLESLEY EDUCATION FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO ADVANCE INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE IN THE WELLESLEY PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
Through the funding of programs and grants for over thirty years, The Wellesley Education Foundation (“WEF”) has championed innovation, excellence, and inclusion in Wellesley Public Schools from the first day of pre-school, through high school graduation, and beyond—working to unite the entire community in enthusiastic support of our schools. WEF funded programs and grants reach thousands of students and teachers every day. By striving to provide a sense of belonging and purpose, WEF nurtures students on their journey to find their individual path. We believe there is no better way to support the students and town of Wellesley than to direct our passion and influence toward the most valuable assets we have- our children, our educators, and our schools. “Greetings from the Wellesley Middle School! My name is Mark Ito, and I am

very pleased to be running for the Wellesley Education Foundation (WEF).
My first marathon was run 19 years ago as a "bandit" in Boston (1998), and
my most recent experience was in Chicago (2016). To date, I have run
three marathons in an effort to maintain personal health and exercise.
For me, it is a meaningful sport that brings me much joy and happiness.
Currently, I have decided to run for a cause that is very important to me
and my work as an administrator in the Wellesley Public Schools. As WMS
Principal, I am involved with applying, encouraging, promoting and
approving WEF grants for the middle school. I see the number of programs
and students that are impacted by the generosity of this foundation. Thank
you for any contribution you can make to improving the important work of
our schools. I am pleased and feel privileged to be running for WEF.”
Diane Hockett, WHS graduate:
"I am so excited to run the 2017 Boston Marathon for the Wellesley
Education Foundation! As this is my first Boston Marathon, I wanted to run
for a cause that has not only given me the resources to succeed during my
time at the high school, but has given many other opportunities to pursue
their academic interests. I graduated from Wellesley High School in 2015
and am currently studying Linguistics and Classics while on the Pre-Med
track at the University of Chicago. I love running because it gives me the
chance to set reasonable personal goals and have a little fun while doing
it. When I'm not running, you can find me doing homework, dancing, or
baking some delicious treats."
