Wellesley 7th Most Educated Place in America: Study

Website NerdWallet examined degree holders in communities with more than 25,000 residents across the country.

WELLESLEY, MA – Wellesley has been ranked the seventh most educated community in America, according to a recent study from website NerdWallet.

The study examined data on education levels of residents over 25 in more than 17,000 cities and towns in the country with populations of at least 25,000.

Based on the U.S. Census Bureau's 2014 American Community Survey, NerdWallet found that 86 percent of Wellesley residents hold at least a bachelor's or associate degree, 49 percent have at least a master's and 8 percent hold doctorates.

Four Massachusetts communities cracked the top 10; Wellesley is joined by Brookline at no. 2, Newton at no. 9 and Lexington at no. 10.
