Wellesley Car Crash Leads To OUI Arrest

The man crashed into a utility pole and failed a field sobriety tests.

WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley police responded to a call about a car crash on Monday and ended up arresting a man and charging him for driving under the influence. The man, Jarrod Stromberg of Newton, 21, was also charged with having an open container of alcohol in his car.

Police were called to Worcester Street near the Wellesley Sports Complex where they found Stronberg's car, crashed into a utility pole with significant damage to the front end of the car. Stromberg told police he was driving when he crashed.

According to the police report, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from Stromberg and noticed he was drowsy and sluggish and his speech was mumbled and slurred. Stromberg agreed to take some reasonable tests of balance and coordination but failed, according to police.

He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on $500 bail.
