Wellesley Drunken Driver Knocks Out Meter, Crashes Into Wall
The driver told police he only remembered hitting the curb.
WELLESLEY, MA — An Ashland man was arrested in Wellesley on Friday and charged with operating under the influence or OUI. Police arrested the man on Washington Street near River Street, early Friday morning.
The man, identified as Davit Nikolyan, 23, had crashed his Ford SUV several times, according to the police report. Nikolyan's car was stopped on Washington Street when police got to the scene, and had noticeable damage to the driver's side.
Nikolyan told police he hit the curb, but officers said there was debris in the roadway and on the sidewalk east of River Street in Newton — they also noted that a parking meter had been hit along with the wall over the Charles River. Nikolyan told police he only remembered hitting the curb.

According to the report, officers noticed his eyes were glassy and he smelled strongly of alcohol — Nikolyan admitted to having "a few beers in Boston." He could not successfully complete a field sobriety test and was arrested.
Nikolyan was charged with OUI and negligent driving.
