Wellesley Jewish Temple Receives Suspicious Letter
A clergy member told police this wasn't the first time they received letters such as this, but called police because of the recent shooting.

WELLESLEY, MA — A suspicious letter was sent to local Jewish Temple Beth Elohim last week urging the congregation of the "importance of believing in Jesus," police said. The letter was postmarked from Texas and was received on Oct. 31.
A clergy member from the synagogue told police that this wasn't the first time they have received letters such as this. However, given the timing with the recent synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh that left 11 dead and six wounded, clergy members thought it was best to call the police.
Representatives at Temple Beth Elohim did not immediately return Patch's call for comment.

Wellesley Police Lieutenant Renzella spoke with an analyst at the Commonwealth Fusion Center, a law enforcement statewide information sharing service. The analyst told Renzella that other local temples have received similar letters since the shooting.
Police said there were no threats in any of the letters received. The Fusion Center is compiling all the letters received for their own investigation.
