Wellesley PD Thanks Good Samaritan Who Bought Officer's Lunch

An anonymous woman who was standing ahead of a Wellesley police officer paid for his lunch at the deli.

WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley police are thanking one woman, although they don't know who she is, for paying for an officers meal while on his break. The department published a thank you note to the anonymous woman on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Officer Tim Barros went to the Linden Store for a sandwich on his lunch break. He politely waited in line to place his order, despite employees and customers offering to let him skip the line, according to the post.

When Barros went to pay for his pastrami sandwich, he was told it was already taken care of. An anonymous good samaritan paid for his sandwich and instructed employees to use whatever change was leftover as a tip for employees.

"When Officer Barros tried to find out who it was, no one seemed to remember who the generous woman was --A term we refer to as ‘selective memory’ in the police world," the post read, "Officer Barros was very touched by this act of kindness, and did not want to let it go unnoticed or unacknowledged. So, to whomever you are out there ma’am-Thanks for buying Officer Tim Barros his lunch on Tuesday. This act went a long way for us and we really appreciate it."

The department said officers and dispatchers have received an outpouring of support since the coronavirus pandemic began.
