Wellesley Resident Named Executive Director of Mass. Technology Collaborative

Tim Connelly is the newest member of MassTech's administration, the governor announced Wednesday.

WELLESLEY, MA – Wellesley resident Tim Connelly has been appointed the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the Baker-Polito Administration announced Wednesday.

Connelly was most recently a General Partner at Brown Brothers Harriman an international financial services firm. He will assume administrative duties at MassTech immediately.

"Tim Connelly possesses deep experience as a manager of complex organizations, and as a leader in private sector technology adoption," Gov. Charlie Baker said in a formal statement. "MassTech is charged with executing our administration’s technology agenda, including extending broadband to rural communities, advancing the Commonwealth’s leadership in digital health, unlocking revolutionary new manufacturing technologies, and deepening regional technology clusters across Massachusetts. Tim’s leadership will ensure that we continue to deliver on these critical initiatives."

MassTech is a public agency working to further economic growth by engaging in collaborations across academia, industry and government. In doing so, the organization works toward expanding high-speed internet statewide, supporting digital healthcare technologies and fostering emerging industry clusters and burgeoning research and development.

"Our administration is deepening Massachusetts’s national leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship," said Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito in an announcement. "We look forward to partnering with Tim, as we continue growing technology employment, and connecting every region of Massachusetts to the innovation economy."

Connelly worked for 30 years at Brown Brothers Harriman as a managing director and General Partner, where he led service delivery enterprise, innovation and product support, and investor services units. He retired from the firm in 2014.

In addition to his experience at the firm, Connelly is a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, the technology advisory board of BDO Consulting and the board of trustees of the Carroll School and New England Disabled Sports.

Connelly chaired United Way's 2014-2015 development campaign, serves on the finance and investment committee at the Cotting School and is a Corporator of Northeastern University.

"I want MassTech to have a meaningful impact in building lasting, sustainable job growth in Massachusetts," Connelly said in an announcement. "I look forward to collaborating closely with MassTech’s board of directors, and with members of our state’s broader technology community, as we work together to achieve lasting economic and social impact."
