Wellesley Schools Get New Assistant Superintendent

The school district announced that Cindy Mahr ​will start her new role as the assistant superintendent of finance and operations July 1.

WELLESLEY, MA — The search for the new assistant superintendent has led the school district to another assistant superintendent from the Weston Public Schools.

The school district announced that Cindy Mahr will start her new role as the assistant superintendent of finance and operations July 1. She leaves Weston, where she served in the same role for 12 years.

Mahr comes to Wellesley with over 25 years of financial management experience including time as the director of administrative services for Brookline Public Schools, the director of administration and finance for the Department of Public Health, and the budget director for the Department of Youth Services, according to a release from the Wellesley Public Schools.

She has served on the board of directors and as vice president for the Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials. She is certified as a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Hartwick College and a master’s degree in public administration from Suffolk University.
