Wellesley Traffic to Be Impacted by Newton Bridge Closure

Wellesley, MA – The repercussions of a long-term bridge closure in Newton and Needham will be felt in Wellesley, according to police.

The Central Avenue/Elliot Street Bridge, which links Newton and Needham, will be closed to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic from July 7 until December for construction

Wellesley Police say this will result in an uptick of traffic on Cedar Street, Hunnewell Street, Forest Street and Wellesley Avenue; it will be especially congested on August 31, as this is the first day of school for both Needham and Wellesley.

Police ask that you keep this increase in mind as you travel throughout the summer and use caution when driving in the area on the first day of school.
