Welllesley's Week In Review: Aug. 16 - 21

Take-out pizza, more beach days greet Wellesley citizens this week.

The week began with news of a new take-out pizza shop and ended with an extended beach season - fitting end caps for the waning days of summer.

Monday brought news of the finishing touches being put on the new Papa Ginos Pronto take-out restaurant at 254 Washington St. Monday also brought news of Senator Cynthia Creem's Democratic primary challenger Charles Rudnick's plans for a phone-in candidate forum for the district Aug. 23, followed by a Friday announcement of an in person forum in Wellesley at the Maugus Restaurant Aug. 25.

The day ended with the Planning Board's consideration of a proposed surgical services facility planned for 27 Washington St., the old Grossman's site. The plan was approved.

Patch Media, the company behind the Wellesley Patch, celebrated the launch of its 100th Patch hyper-local website, the Morristown Patch, on Tuesday. The day also brought word of Larry Ng, a local mechanic, who lamented the failure of the Right to Repair bill earlier this month.  That night, the Zoning Board also approved the surgical services facility at 27 Washington St.

On Thursday, Wellesley Patch reported on several police arrests, among them a trio of 17-year-olds caught with alcohol during a traffic stop.

Friday brought good news for beach worshipers, who seem to be patronizing Morse's Pond Beach in droves this year - the beach is staying open an extra week. As Ford Prefect would say - don't forget your towel.
