Wong: Berdell Officially Out as Wellesley School Business Manager

Ruth Quinn Berdell’s employment with Wellesley schools has ended.

According to an e-mail from Superintendent Bella T. Wong, Berdell, the school’s business manager , no longer works for Wellesley Public Schools effective today.

Wong wrote that there would be no further public comment about the decision, other than it was being deemed a “personnel matter.”

Berdell was originally put on paid, voluntary leave Nov. 21, 2011 after it was made public that she would be paid over

Berdell has been at the center of controversy since the discovery last March that more than  for more than a year.

Since that revelation, Berdell’s tight control on a department that was found to be  has been a focus of attention from residents who have called for changes.
