Is This Your Dog? Firefighters Save Drowning Pup

Weston firefighters rescued the dog from a hole in an icy pond before it ran away.

WELLESLEY, MA - Heroic firefighters saved a dog that fell through the ice in a small pond.

One Weston firefighter geared up in a survival suit and jumped into the pond on Cliff Road in Weston to rescue the distressed pooch Sunday, fire officials said. Wellesley police were also on the scene.

The dog was understandably traumatized and tried to nip the arm of one of its rescuers before running away.

The dog was wearing a collar so it probably lived close by and went home, fire officials said.
