• National Park Service Seeks Proposals to Lease and Rehabilitate Three Historic Cape Cod Properties (nps.gov) — Wellfleet property owners and history buffs can now bid to lease and restore two historic homes in town, plus a third in Truro, through a new National Park Service program. Proposals are due November 1, with appointment-only tours running on Wednesdays from August 12 to September 23. Lessees must meet strict historic preservation standards and pay fair-market rent.
   

• Cape Cod homeowner sues, says bank should not have given him mortgage for $5.5 million mansion at risk of collapse (boston.com) — A high-profile Wellfleet mansion built on an eroding coastal bank, demolished in 2025, is now at the center of a lawsuit where the owner seeks to void his multimillion-dollar mortgage, citing mental health issues. The case, filed in New York, raises tough legal questions about capacity and responsibility, while Wellfleet’s reassessment now values the remaining land at just $385,000.
   

• Massachusetts rescuers return 19 bottlenose dolphins to sea after second Cape Cod stranding (thecooldown.com) — Rescuers helped return 19 bottlenose dolphins to deeper water after strandings on beaches in Brewster and Wellfleet, working to guide them safely out of Wellfleet Bay. The animals likely included dolphins stranded the previous day, in what officials called Massachusetts’ largest bottlenose event. Satellite tags will help track whether they avoid getting trapped again along the Cape.
