5 Things to Know Today: Feb. 11
Today is the last day to get discounted tickets to "The Apple Tree," the high school theater production taking place March 4 through 6.

1. Parents of children who will be five on or before September 1, 2011 have 2 weeks left to register for the kindergarten program. The deadline is Feb. 25. Information on fee-based full day or the free half-day programs is available by calling 508-836-7700. Registration packets can be sent to you and are available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
2 Today is Be Electrific Day. Appropriately designated on the anniversary of Thomas Edison’s birthday in 1847, the day is meant to bring appreciation for his many electrical inventions. Hug a lightbulb today! (Make sure it's been turned off first...just sayin.')
3. Tickets are on sale now for “The Apple Tree,” a high school theater performance scheduled for the weekend of March 4 through 6. Today is the last day to get tickets for $8. Ticket prices rise to $10 beginning tomorrow. For more information, visit the .

4.Today is National Shut-in Visitation Day. Think about your neighborhood, and make an effort to check on neighbors who may be having difficulty with heat, food, and transportation this winter.
5. The World Language classes at raised $490 in a penny war competition between classes. The money is being donated to the Students Rebuild Program in Haiti. The competition was held in December and organized by the French classes. The donation will be matched by the Bezos Foundation and will be directed to the École Élie Dubois in Port-au-Prince to aid in their rebuilding efforts. A special shout out to Ms. MacAlpine’s class, which won the penny war.
