ADULT TAP DANCE PROGRAM by Westborough Players Club

Tap Workshop

Are you watching “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance” wishing you hadn’t quit dance classes when you were 12? Well, it is not too late. Westborough Players Club is offering a seven-class series of adult (ages 18 and beyond) tap classes on the following dates: November 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19 and 24. The classes will be held at the Harvey Building, 20 Phillips St., Westborough from 7 to 8:30 PM.

The classes are being taught by master dancer Michelle Leibowitz. “We will concentrate on tap basics and movement exercises,” Leibowitz explains. “Because there are very few local classes for adults who want to work out by dancing, we thought we would test out if there was interest in an adult dance program.” she continues.

The world of amateur dance classes also will be the topic of Westborough Players’ spring musical production. “One Night a Week,” the musical version of “Stepping Out.” The show tells the story of amateur dance students as they strive to master the basics of tap. The steps and routines are just the background for the real focus of the play: the relationships and interactions of these ten very different people.

“For those interested in auditioning for the show, the classes will provide a chance to brush up on tap skills they already have or, for those with no previous tap experience, to learn some basic steps. I am also hoping to teach some combinations that will show up in the choreography for the show., “ Leibowitz describes. The classes also are open to adults who want a exercise opportunity.

For Westborough Players’ Club members, the tuition for this seven-class tap dance program will be either $10 per class or $60 for the full class schedule, paid at the start of the program.
