WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough officials have recognized June as Pride Month and are marking the month with a flag display at Bay State Commons.
The Select Board signed a proclamation on May 26 declaring June 2026 as Pride Month in Westborough, citing the town’s commitment to creating a “welcoming, safe, and healthy community” for all residents. The proclamation was scheduled for the board’s May 26 hybrid meeting at Memorial Hall inside Town Hall, according to the town agenda
As part of the recognition, the Progress Pride Flag will be displayed at Bay State Commons throughout June, according to the town.
The proclamation says Pride Month is observed nationwide and commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which it describes as a pivotal moment in the movement for LGBTQ+ rights and equality in the U.S. and around the world.
The board also recognized LGBTQ+ residents, town employees, volunteers, business owners and others who contribute to Westborough’s community. The proclamation says Pride Month is an opportunity to support advocacy for Westborough’s LGBTQ+ community, build acceptance and advance equal rights.
The proclamation was signed by Select Board members Sean Keogh, Mark Silverberg, Ian Johnson, Shelby Marshall and Patrick Welch.
