Westborough Police Made More Arrests, Fewer Traffic Stops Last Month

Westborough police saw arrests, summonses and reports rise in May from last year, while traffic stops and crashes declined.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough police saw arrests, criminal summonses and incident reports rise in May compared to the same month last year, while traffic stops and crashes declined.

Police recorded 20 arrests, 34 criminal summonses, 207 incident reports, 54 traffic accidents, 488 traffic stops, 31 jail diversion program assists and 2,433 total calls in May 2026, according to data shared by the department Monday. In May 2025, the department recorded 17 arrests, 26 criminal summonses, 200 incident reports, 61 traffic accidents and 639 traffic stops.

The year-over-year figures show arrests rose by three, or about 18 percent. Criminal summonses increased by eight, or about 31 percent, and incident reports rose by seven, or about 4 percent.

Traffic accidents fell by seven from May 2025 to May 2026, a drop of about 12 percent. Traffic stops fell by 151, or about 24 percent.

The May figures come after Westborough police reported 26,459 calls for service, 254 arrests, 386 criminal complaints, 708 accidents and 2,225 reported incidents in all of 2025, according to the town’s 2025 annual report.
