WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough police will host a free car seat inspection event Friday for parents and caregivers who want to check whether a child's seat is properly installed.
The Westborough Police Department said certified technicians will inspect car seats from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Knowledge Beginnings, 95 East Main St., to help ensure seats are properly secured in vehicles.
Massachusetts law requires children under age 8 and shorter than 57 inches to ride in a car seat or booster seat while in a moving vehicle. However, nearly half of car seats are installed incorrectly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Space is limited for the event and registration is preferred, according to a department flyer. Registration is available here.
