WESTBOROUGH, MA — A call for service in Shrewsbury has prompted a personnel review involving Westborough Police Chief Todd Minardi.
The Shrewsbury Police Department responded Friday to a call involving Minardi, according to a statement from the Town of Westborough. Town officials placed Minardi on administrative leave after learning of the incident and began taking steps to retain an outside investigator.
The town did not disclose the nature of the call or provide other details about the incident.
Westborough's deputy police chief is overseeing the department's day-to-day operations under its existing organizational structure, according to the statement.
Chief Minardi was first sworn in as interim chief in June 2023. He took the helm after former Chief Jeffrey Lourie stepped down to become Chief of Police in Falmouth.
The town called the situation an ongoing personnel matter under active review and said it would not comment further at this time.
Both the Shrewsbury and Westborough Police Departments did not immediately respond to a request for additional details.
