Annual Music Day Takes Place on Milk Street [IMAGE GALLERY]

The weather was perfect for Robinson Music's fourth annual event.

A steady stream of attendees came out on Sunday afternoon, June 10, to enjoy live musical performances and to try new instruments at MetroWest Musical Instrument Fun Day.

The lawn area in front of Robinson’s Music was dotted with several tents.  As guests arrived they were treated to the music of the Sunnyside Swing Band, a four-piece band featuring drum instructor Joanne Pipes. A select group of her students opened for the band in the form of a group performance on drum “buckets.”  In neighboring tents, attendees enjoyed complimentary hot dogs, chips and soft drinks and young children enjoyed face painting.  There was also a tent featuring a large selection of musical merchandise on sale during the event.

Raffle prizes lined a table outside. Prized included an electric guitar and mini congas, as well as Patriots tickets.

The lobby of the store had been converted into a performance space, complete with a raised performance stage. Students shared their musical talent with the crowd, performing on a wide range of instruments including: violin, trumpet, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, piano, flute and more.

Beyond the lobby, lines formed in the studio space hallways where instructors awaited curious attendees who wanted to try a host of instruments.

“This event is a great opportunity for children and their parents to hear, touch and try out a variety of musical instruments with the assistance of professional musicians,” said Chris Vella, operations and marketing director for Robinson Music in a press release.
