Boroughs JCC Preschool Receives Annual NAEYC Accreditation

The Boroughs JCC Preschool (http://www.boroughsjcc.org/jcc-preschool) receive its annual accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC Accreditation assesses the quality of early childhood programs over more than 10 areas of evaluation. Beyond requirements for state licensing, NAEYC emphasizes the quality of the educational experience -- from curriculum and continuing education for staff through adoption of emerging best practices and the quality of the facility itself.

“We are proud of our staff and the level of support we have from the community,” noted the Sue Carlsen, the JCC’s Director of Early Childhood Programs. “Our continued national accreditation reflects our commitment to our students, staff, and our program.”

Maintaining NAEYC Accreditation requires extensive, on-going documentation of the learning process in the classroom, along with continuing education for faculty and staff, and regular updates to curricula, and facility maintenance and improvements.

“Many preschools of dropped their accreditation because of the effort and cost involved,” noted Stephen Marmor, President of the Boroughs JCC. “As a non-profit, NAEYC Accreditation is essential to demonstrate our investment and desire to offer the best program possible to families in our community.”

The Boroughs JCC Preschool is a full-child developmental program serving children from 15 months through 5 years old. In addition to the core preschool program, the JCC Preschool offers extended day enrichment programs and the ability for families to create a schedule that best meet their needs.
