Civic Club Annual Fishing Challenge this coming weekend

Free and Fun for all ages - come rain or shine!

As part of the town Spring Festival celebrations Westborough Civic Club will again sponsor the free annual Fishing Challenge at Sandra Pond, Minute Man Park, 91 Upton Road. This will be the ninth year of the club fully funding this event, which is scheduled to take place Saturday May 7th, fishing times being 9am to 1pm. Registration is free on the day and open to all ages – with multiple prizes awarded for longest fish in 3 separate age groups. With no fishing license required for this specific occasion and persons new to the pastime able to take advantage of loaner rods and reels (subject to availability) event organizer William ‘Bill’ Kohler is hoping that the current spell of weather will brighten up enough to ensure this year’s turnout surpasses even that of the past, when up to 150 people have taken part in any one year. He does ask that young children be accompanied by an adult. Food and drinks are available for purchase throughout the event and even bait is available on the day. Participants get a free commemorative T-shirt while stocks last - with this years Fishing Challenge logo having been designed by Esther Antony, a 4th Grade student at Mill Pond School.

Westborough Civic Club is able to sponsor this event by the efforts of its volunteer membership and funds raised at the annual Tree Sale held in town and welcomes applications at any time from prospective new members. The club can be contacted at facebook.com/westboroughcivicclub or via the web at westborocivicclub.com
