Follow the Cannon: A Reading of Clara Barton's Civil War Letters

Join re-enactor Lynne McKinney Lydick as she brings "The Angel of the Battlefield" to life in a presentation at The Willows at 7:00 p.m. Clara Barton's courage and unquenchable spirit, combined with her organizational skills, brought healing and comfort to soldiers on both sides of the Civil War, earning the respect of battlefield surgeons, generals and politicians. She went on to found the Red Cross, which perpetuates her determination to be of use in the cause of relieving human suffering.

This program is presented jointly by the Westborough Historical Society and The Willows. It is supported in part by a grant from the Westborough Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. This event is the fifth in an ongoing series of programs by the Westborough Historical Society to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
