No, dogs can't read, but they can be great listeners, especially Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.). These registered therapy dogs and their owners/handlers are trained as reading companions to children who are emergent or hesitant readers.
The public is invited to drop in to meet a R.E.A.D. team and learn more about the program's successes around the country.
