Farmers’ Market Organizers Seek High School Intern
An unpaid internship is available for a high school student to help with organizing a weekly summer event.
Organizers of the Westborough Farmers’ Market are looking for a high school student for an unpaid internship. The position is part-time and involves a number of organizational responsibilities.
Dismas House of Massachusetts Inc., an area non-profit organizing the farmers’ market, is seeking a student as a part-time organizer to assist in market logistics, production of market materials, public relations, the creation of marketing materials, assistance in press releases, and recruitment of local sponsors to pay for insurance, supplies, and marketing materials, and “day of” market management.
The position is an unpaid internship which could turn into a paid internship depending on the success of sponsorship recruitment efforts this spring. Candidate should be reliable, thoughtful, well-organized, and willing to work with a diverse group of farmers and staff.

The downtown Westborough market is planned to run from June through September 2011 every Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. Several area farms, including Dismas Family Farm, Heirloom Harvest CSA, Zoll Vineyards, Five Loaves Bakery, Rocky Ridge Beef Farm, Robinson Dairy and others, have agreed to be part of the market and offer Westborough residents an array of fresh and local produce. Products are expected to include beef, honey, cheese, fresh vegetables, baked goods and wine.
In addition, organizers of the market are planning to weekly music, reading from the children’s library, and farm-themed children’s activities and workshops.
