Fire Set In Westborough Police Station Lobby; Person In Custody
Police took a person into custody after a fire was set in the station's lobby Sunday evening.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Police Station lobby was damaged by a fire allegedly set purposefully on Sunday evening, according to WCVB 5-ABC.
Firefighters were called to the police department at 8:20 p.m. due to a report of a fire in the police station at 45 West Main St.
The police station was evacuated. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke in the lobby and the station's sprinkler system on. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, according to NBC 10 Boston.

An extensive search using K-9 units and police drones located a person of interest who was taken into custody.
Theresa Abichaker, of West Roxbury, is accused of intentionally setting a clothing donation box and its contents on fire, NBC 10 Boston reported. She was charged with three counts of burning a public building, three counts of attempting to burn a public building, vandalizing property, and fire negligence.

The fire caused minimal damage but the sprinkler system's activation caused significant damage to the building, WCVB-5 ABC reported.
No injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation.
Police wrote the following on Facebook: "This evening there was an incident in the police department lobby. Westborough PD and FD along with multiple other law enforcement agencies are currently investigating. No danger to the public."
