Up for a (Fishing) challenge?

Civic Club Annual Fishing Challenge this coming weekend.

As part of the town Spring Festival celebrations Westborough Civic Club will again sponsor the free annual Fishing Challenge at Sandra Pond Reservoir, Minute Man Park, Upton Road. This will be the eighth year of the club fully funding this event, which is scheduled to take place Saturday May 2nd, fishing times being 9am to 1pm. Registration is free on the day and open to all ages – with multiple prizes awarded for biggest fish in 3 separate age groups. With no fishing licence required for this specific occasion and persons new to the pastime able to take advantage of loaner rods and reels (subject to availability) event organiser William ‘Bill’ Kohler is hoping that good weather will ensure this year’s turnout surpasses even that of the past, when up to 150 people have taken part in any one year. He does ask that young children be accompanied by an adult. Food and drinks are available for purchase throughout the event and even bait is available on the day.

As their contribution to the community’s Earth Day activities members of the Westborough Civic Club spent the past Saturday morning preparing for the event by tidying up parts of Upton Road and adjacent streets.
