The Bay State Green Committee has chosen three projects to enhance the park, and it is now seeking money to fund them.
The projects include a flagpole, a plaque to describe the park’s history as the site of a former football field and Bay State Abrasives, and a permanent planter with seating.

The committee worked with Terrascaping to design a 20-foot diameter fieldstone planter seating wall and, as a reminder of the park’s history, the wall will incorporate four grinding wheels recovered from the former Bay State Abrasives. It will also feature landscaping in the center.
The plan includes placement of the flagpole and plaque in the northwest corner of the park.
According to a press release issued by the Bay State Green Committee, it has half the funding necessary to complete the proposed projects. The group must raise another $9,000 to fully fund them. Any organization, business or individual interested in donating, is asked to send a check to:
- Leah Talbot, Town Accountant
- 34 West Main St.
- Westborough, MA 01581
Checks should be made payable to the Town of Westborough with Bay State Commons Gift Fund on the memo line of the check as the intended recipient.
