Girl Scout Fundraiser Yard Sale

Westborough Girl Scout Troops are holding a multi-troop yard sale fundraiser on June 20th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Tufts Machine Shop Lot at 55 E. Main Street in Westborough. Troops 30555, 30507, 30510, and 30859 are raising funds for trips and service activities.

If you’ve recycled Styrofoam or other foam products at one of Westborough’s recycling events over the last few years, you’ve met Girl Scouts from Troop 30555 and 30507. Troop 30555 is on their final push to earn funds for their trip to Costa Rica and Panama in August 2015. The girls have been saving for over 2 years. On the trip, which will be run by Outward Bound Costa Rica, Troop 30555 will participate in an adventure-based leadership program. Each member of the troop is assigned a position such as Captain, Naturalist, Reporter, and Safety Officer. They rotate through these positions over the course of the week and learn valuable skills about working together as a group. Their adventures will include sea kayaking, snorkeling, whitewater rafting, and ziplining. In Panama, they will kayak out to an island where they will work alongside local community members on a service project. Troops 30507 and 30510 are in the early phases of deciding what their future adventures will be. Troop 30859 has a trip to New York City planned for the coming year.
