The department is participating in UMass Medical Center's 'Goods for Guns' buyback program.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Police Department is asking residents to swap their guns for gift cards. The department is joining UMass Medical Center's "Guns for Goods" buyback program. This will be the 18th year of the program.
Residents can drop off guns at the Westborough Police Department between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 14.
Police departments across Worcester County are participating in the program, designating themselves as drop-off locations for unwanted guns. Participants get a grocery store gift card in exchange for their gun. The amount varies, depending on the gun. For example, a rifle is worth $25, a pistol is $50 and a semi-automatic is $75.
