"Knight at the Races" benefiting WHS-Algonquin Unified Track Team, March 28th 7-10 pm, Knights of Columbus Hall
Two local high schools, Westborough and Algonquin, have a joint Unified Track Team where students with and without disabilities compete.
The Knights of Columbus are committed to supporting Special Olympics. We have pledged $1.4 Million dollars towards the Special Olympics World Games to be held in Los Angeles in the summer of 2015.
Today we are asking for your support to help our students from Algonquin Regional and Westborough High Schools who compete in Track and Field events against other local High Schools. Unified Track is a cooperative team between these two great local institutions allowing students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities to practice and compete as equals. Unified Track at ARHS and WHS creates an opportunity for peers to see each other for their abilities and for students with disabilities to represent their school with pride. The program is a win-win situation for all students as well as their families and friends.
On March 28th 2015 we are sponsoring a “Knight at the Races” to benefit Special Olympics / Unified Track for Algonquin Regional and Westborough High Schools. This is a fun entertaining evening where attendees will enjoy a succulent dinner of Chicken Wellington and Hasselback Potatoes while wagering on simulated horse races. Contestants, drawn from the audience, “race” around the track moving according to the roll of oversized dice and comical anecdotes from our seasoned narrator.
