Meet Hannah, This Week’s Patch Whiz Kid

Our town is full of Whiz Kids, and Westborough Patch is proud to shine the spotlight on one of our junior citizens each Wednesday. This week, as our first Westborough Patch Whiz Kid, we introduce you to Hannah Snell. Congratulations, Hannah!

Whiz Kid’s Name, Age:  Hannah Snell, 12

Whiz Kid’s School:  Mill Pond School

Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: Hannah skated her way to 3^rd place in the Preliminary Girls Freestyle event at the Bay State Games in Williamstown on Sunday, Jan. 30, and qualified for the 2011 State Games of America to be held in August in San Diego, California.

Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Hannah is looking forward to the chance to represent Westborough and Massachusetts on the national stage. Her immediate training goals included landing her axel and landing her combination spin, which she succeeded in doing the day after winning at Bay State Games. Hannah will compete in the Worcester Open in April in preparation for the State Games of America in August.

Hannah not only loves to figure skate, but she is also a seasoned rock climber, typically climbing routes graded at a 5.9 or harder! She is also an accomplished classical violinist, straight-A student, and – her  mom tells Westborough Patch - a total goofball.

Hannah has been figure skating since she was 9 years old and calls her home.
