Miles-Long Traffic Backups After I-495 Crash, Fuel Spill In Westborough
No injuries were reported, but fire officials said a fuel spill forced traffic down to a single lane.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A crash on I- 495 northbound in Westborough caused major traffic disruptions Wednesday morning, with lane closures and spill-related hazards slowing the commute across the region.
Crews responded to the crash early Wednesday, which happened just before Route 9, according to the Westborough Fire Department.
While no injuries were reported, fire officials said a fuel spill forced traffic down to a single lane, significantly backing up vehicles along I-495.

At 9:36 a.m., Westborough fire shared an update that delays extended onto I-90 eastbound, where traffic backups reached as far as the 98-mile marker in Grafton.
Drivers were urged to seek alternate routes and expect extended delays as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and address the fuel spill.
