Motor Vehicle Theft, Break-Ins Reported Overnight In Westborough
Westborough police are investigating following overnight motor vehicle theft and break-ins.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Police are investigating following overnight motor vehicle theft and break-ins.
Police received a report at 7:10 a.m. from a School Street resident about a stolen motor vehicle. Officers responded and found that one motor vehicle had been stolen.
Police also received multiple reports from residents stating that their vehicles had been broken into and various items were taken.

Westborough police are "actively collaborating with the Worcester Police Department after several items from the stolen vehicle were located in Worcester."
Police are asking anyone with home security cameras in the School Street, South Street, or High Street areas to review their footage and report any suspicious activity that may aid in the investigation.

Police had the following advice for residents:
- Remove keys and lock all vehicles when not in use
- Take all valuables out of vehicles to reduce the risk of theft
- Close garage doors and secure all entry points overnight
"Community cooperation is crucial in preventing and solving property crimes," police said on Facebook.

Westborough is one of many communities across the state that have been plagued by this problem. Police in Marlborough, Andover, Milford, and Tewksbury have reported an increase in this type of crime.
