Random Route 9 Stop Yields Drugs: Westborough Police

Westborough police arrested and charged a Worcester man after a stop late Saturday night.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough police arrested and charged a Worcester man after a random stop along Route 9 Saturday night.

According to police, an officer conducted a "random query" of a vehicle and discovered that the registered owner had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear at Clinton District Court. When police searched the man and his car, they found about 15 grams of suspected drugs, plus over $600 in cash and two cell phones.

Some of the suspected drugs were packaged in bags, which police believe means they were headed for sale. Police are seeking charges of possession of a class B drug with intent to distribute and the warrant. The man was released on bail after he was booked, police said.
