Remarkable Teachers Honored for the Holidays
The Westborough Education Foundation is accepting donations to honor town teachers.

The annual Westborough Education Foundation C.A.R.E. (Celebrate and Appreciate Remarkable Educators) Program is underway. The group is accepting donations in honor of teachers in the district. The popular program is often used by families to replace traditional holiday gifts for teachers.
Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) member Maureen Johnson said that approximately $4,000 was raised last December. She estimated that between 45 and 65 families recognized 90 teachers during the holiday season.
Teachers who are recognized through the program are notified about the honor, but they are not told of the donation amount.

The money raised through the program is used to provide grants. All Westborough teachers are eligible to participate in the grant program. The nonprofit WEF plans to use the money to fund innovative projects and classroom programs that fall outside of the Westborough School Department budget.
WEF also runs the program in the spring for end-of-year teacher acknowledgements. Johnson said that last school year's spring program raised about $2,000.
