Restaurant reviewer Bill Clapper said that long ago the template for a Japanese steakhouse was established, and few veer from that template. That includes the Sachi Japanese Steak House and Sushi in Westborough, which he recently reviewed in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
It falls into the “sameness category,” he wrote, in terms of decor and setup.

The experience, and food, he found enjoyable and in some cases near excellent.
Clapper notes that extensive selection (“overwhelming”) of sushi, and his choices were “excellent in taste, texture and presentation.”

The chosen entrees both scored. The surf and turf, which was grilled lobster and filet mignon, Clapper found to be a “masterpiece in presentation” and included a perfectly cooked steak. He did note that a sauce they used overpowered an otherwise good meal. The tuna steak was “generous” and “excellent.”
“All in all, our visit to Sachi was enjoyable and exactly what we expected,” he wrote. “No surprises but no duds either.”
