Spiritual Film Series Offers a New Cultural Perspective
Monday November 10th, 7:00 PM at the Boroughs JCC

This Month’s film: WADJDA
Having a voice, speaking one’s truth, where silence is typically enforced, makes this film remarkable! The film dares you to dream the impossible! It traverses unpaved roads that seem inaccessible, yet through action, can and will be traveled!
WADJDA, the first award-winning movie filmed entirely in Saudi Arabia, by the country’s first female director, Haifaa Al Mansour, is sure to foster discussion about cultural changes, hope and perseverance.
WADJDA is a 10-year-old girl living in a suburb of Riyadh. Living in a conservative world, she is fun loving, entrepreneurial and always pushing the boundaries. After a fight with her friend Abdullah, a neighborhood boy she shouldn’t be playing with, Wadjda sees a beautiful green bicycle for sale. She wants the bicycle desperately so that she can beat Abdullah in a race. But Wadjda’s mother won’t allow it, fearing repercussions from a society that sees bicycles as dangerous to a girl’s virtue. So Wadjda decides to try and raise the money herself. She is determined to continue fighting for her dreams...
Imagine the changes you may take in your own life when you dare to dream!
