Storey: Pup Poop is Making a Mess [POLL]

The DPW employee asked the Board of Selectmen to consider closing Veterans Freedom Park to nonresidents.

 

The Board of Selectmen was asked to take some freedoms away at on East Main Street by closing it to out-of-towners. At the Tuesday, March 13 meeting, longtime employee Earl Storey told board members that dogs are making a mess of the park. Specifically, he said, the poop is piling up.

Storey said that since the , many dog owners are now using Veterans Freedom Park to walk their pets. “We’ve got a tremendous outflow of out-of-town people there, and it’s gotten worse and worse up there,” Storey said.

Storey said he is concerned that dog owners are not cleaning up after their animals, adding that the cross country team uses the field for practices and meets.

The selectmen agreed to consider the issue. “It’s time to revisit this,” said Chairperson Tim Dodd.
