IMAGE GALLERY: Uplifting Celebration for Westborough Bell

Installation of Revere bell is an historic moment for Boston and Westborough.

The Old South Meeting House in Boston hosted a memorable Bell Raising Celebration on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 16 to install its newly acquired 1801 Paul Revere bell, Citizens from around the Commonwealth, including many Westborough residents, attended the event.

Onlookers watched as the 876-pound bell was ceremoniously lifted to its new home in the belfry of the Old South Meeting House to the rousing "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Once completely installed, the Revere bell, one of only 26 bells known to be cast by Paul Revere himself, will ring out over the streets of Boston, just as the first bell in the Old South Meeting House did in 1731.
