VIDEO: Mill Pond Student Takes Top Honors in Music Competition
Zlatomir Fung was awarded a $1,100 scholarship in the May 4 event.
On Wednesday, May 4, 12-year-old Zlatomir Fung, a student at , was awarded top honors in the Music Worcester, Inc. Young Artist Competition.
From 2 to 6 p.m., eighteen student musicians performed at Alden Memorial Hall on the Worcester Polytechnic campus. The students came from Westborough, Shrewsbury, Fitchburg and Auburn. The competition included pianists, one cellist, two violinists, one oboe player and several clarinet players.
Zlatomir studies cello with Emmanuel Feldman. As part of his first place showing, he was awarded a $1,100 scholarship from The Music Guild. The annual competition awards scholarships to be used for music lessons, equipment, summer studies, and college.

According to Midge Hamilton, Marketing Director for Music Worcester, Inc., Zlatomir performed in a chamber ensemble when he was just 6-years-old, and he has composed works for cello. He is scheduled to perform for the Music Worcester, Inc., Beethoven Circle Dinner in June.
On May 18, Zlatomir was invited to perform at the Annual Spring Luncheon of The Music Guild, and Westborough Patch is grateful to have permission from Music Worcester, Inc. to bring you this video of his performance at the luncheon.
