Westboro House of Pizza Prepares for Expansion

Motivated by customer requests and a sluggish economy, owners Fred and Spyro Economou recently announced plans for a the addition of a nearly 1,600 square foot lounge adjacent to their existing restaurant. 

Owner Fred Economou told Westborough Patch, “We serve beer and wine during the week and use a portable bar on weekends. We have a full liquor license, but the portable bar is limited. We have customers who want frozen drinks like margaritas and mud slides which we can’t do with a portable bar.” 

Fred’s brother and business partner Spyro pointed out, “We need to stay competitive. In this economy, we need to try and increase business.”

In order to satisfy customers and make use of the adjoining space previously occupied by Fitness Together, the brothers decided to enhance their restaurant with a new lounge.

“It will be a small town type of place. People can stop in for a drink and appetizers or they can have a drink while waiting,” Spyro explained. Fred added, “People can walk downtown and get a drink and can walk home.”

The brothers, who just completed demolition of the Fitness Together space, told Patch that the lounge area will have seating for roughly fifty people, including seating at tables and chairs, as well as comfortable stool seating for fifteen patrons at the bar.

Fred described the atmosphere as “a middle of the road type of place – an extension of your own home. It’ll be a place where you can come in and have a drink; sort of like the Cheers theme song 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name.'" 

Fred siad, “We want to make it cozy. There will be a gas fireplace in the wall as well as a large flat screen TV for entertainment.” The bothers are also considering hosting low-key weekend entertainment such as an acoustic guitar player or a singer. 

The lounge will offer the existing Westboro House of Pizza menu, as well as additional appetizers, burgers and steaks.

Once completed in September or October, customers will be able to enter the lounge through either the pizza restaurant or a separate entrance.
