Westborough Announces Its Veterans' Day Program

WESTBOROUGH, MA—Westborough's Veterans' Advisory Board hosts the town's official Veterans' Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11.

Here's the program:

• 9 a.m.: VFW Post 9013 on Milk Street. All participants meet for coffee and pastries·
• 9:20 a.m.: Bus departs VFW Post for Minuteman Park. Master of Ceremonies Brent French will introduce State Rep. Hannah Kane to say a few words and present the wreath. Pastor John Taylor of the First United Methodist Church will give the invocation. The VFW Post 9013 Honor Guard will fire 3 volleys of rifle fire followed by the buglers from the WHS band playing of TAPS.
• 9:50 a.m.: Bus departs for the Pine Grove Cemetery. MC will introduce State Reps. Carolyn Dykema and Danielle Gregoire to say a few words and to present the wreath. Jeff Goodrich of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will offer a prayer. The VFW Post 9013 honor guard will fire 3 will volleys of rifle fire followed by the buglers from the WHS band playing of TAPS.
• 10:20 a.m.: Bus departs for Forbes Municipal Building for services and wreath laying ceremony. MC will introduce Town Manger Jim Malloy to speak about the downtown improvements and recognize Penta Communications before introducing the Board of Selectmen Chairman Ian Johnson who will say a few words and introduce Gold Star mother Rita Lee to present the wreath. MC Brent French will introduce our Grand Marshal Alexander Tournas to speak. The MC will introduce Pastor Paul Sangree of the Congregational Church to lead us in prayer. MC will introduce from the Westborough High School the ensemble Harmony in Heels: Nicole Bates, Peyton Brown, Grace Desmond, Kaya Fung, Selena Hamilton, Caterina Leal, Bella Pici-D’ttavio, Isabella Seymour, Amee Tsatsaronis, and Anne Whitehall. The VFW Post 9013 honor guard will fire 3 will volleys of rifle fire followed by the buglers from the WHS band playing of TAPS. This will conclude services at the WW-I, WW-II, Korean, Vietnam, and Gulf War Memorials.
• 10:50 a.m.: Participants that wish to march to the Westborough Rotary services will do so at this time and those who wish to ride the bus may do so. All veterans are encouraged to join us.
• 11 a.m.: At the Rotary Service the MC will ask Selectmen to present the wreath. the MC will introduce Rev. Elizabeth Kubota from the First United Methodist Church to offer an invocation. This will be followed at 11:11 a.m. with members of the VFW Post 9013, firing 3 volleys of rifle fire and by the buglers John Pashapour and Eamonn Mazur from the WHS band playing of TAPS. We will conclude all services with a final word of thanks to our invited guest and all participants. All above times are estimated in this is a brief schedule of events.
• AT CONCLUSION: Quartermaster Ron Perry offers collation for participants and invited guests at the VFW Post 9013 on Milk Street.
