Westborough Education Foundation Grants $21,000 To Local Organizations

Six organizations benefitted from the grant, which totaled $21,000.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—A breakfast reception was held Tuesday, May 9, at the Willows in Westborough to honor the grant recipients for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Westborough Education Foundation awarded 17 grants totaling more than $21,000, according to an announcement.

"The Westborough Education Foundation helps propel innovation and creativity throughout the district. Teachers are so honored to be recognized and supported as they try out their new ideas," Daniel Mayer, Ed.D., assistant superintendent Westborough Public Schools, said in a statement.

It was fitting that the Ed Foundation awarded 17 grants totaling more than $21,000 on National Teacher Appreciation Day, with Maureen Johnson, president of WEF, commenting,“We are fortunate to have such a talented, hard-working staff within our school system. This is one opportunity where WEF can show our support for their creativity and dedication to the students of our community. It is our pleasure to award grants in a variety of disciplines across all grades to these extraordinary teachers and students, who work above and beyond to enhance the educational experiences of children within the Westborough Schools. I think you will find these ideas and programs a tribute to the quality and dedication of teachers who search for novel approaches to engage students in learning.”
