Firefighters performed Rapid Intervention Training and safety and survival training this month, reported the Westborough Fire Department on its Facebook page.

“For those of you who don’t know, Rapid Intervention Training is to prepare Firefighters to be ready to intervene quickly if the situation becomes dangerous,” posted Walter Aldrich, a former firefighter. “They are trained to rapidly enter a dangerous encounter and extract the Fire or civilians in danger. These guys wait outside a fire or emergency until something goes wrong. Then they get in quickly to rescue the people involved then get them to safely. I’m very proud of these guys.”
