Westborough Lions Announce Youth Speech Contest Winner!
Megan Ku Wins Local and Zone II Contests!

Megan Ku, a sophomore at Westborough High School, is the 2015/2016 winner of the Westborough Lions and the Massachusetts Lions, District 33A, Zone II Youth Speech contests! She is pictured with Susan Ash, Westborough Lions Club Speech Contest Chairperson to her left, and Marianna Riemer, District 33A, Region I Chairperson to her right.
Each year, the Massachusetts Lions sponsor a statewide speech contest for high school students on a compelling topic. This year’s topic was: In What Ways has Social Media Changed Society? The speeches are to be memorized and must be from five to eight minutes in length. The contestants are judged on delivery, effectiveness, and text. Contests begin at the local Lions Club level and move on to Zone, Region, District, and finally state level.
Megan won her titles after having competed for the Westborough title on December 1st. She then went on to represent the local club in the District 33A, Zone II contest on December 16th in Bolton. There, she competed against the winners of the Berlin and Bolton Lions Clubs. She secured the Zone II title that evening and went on to compete at the Region I level in Milford on January 7th, where she was a runner up.
